The 2030 Challenge Stimulus Plan
The 2030 Challenge Stimulus Plan calls for a two-year $171.72 billion investment in a plan that integrates a mortgage buy-down program for residential buildings and an accelerated-depreciation program for commercial buildings with the energy-efficiency targets of the 2030 Challenge. The Plan will save consumers $142.33 billion to $200.88 billion in energy costs and mortgage payments over a five-year period, while creating 8,445,012 new jobs and drastically reducing our energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
One of the greatest benefits of the Plan is that, by tying the mortgage buy-down and accelerated depreciation to achieving the 2030 Challenge targets, the Plan immediately creates the opportunity for a $1.6 trillion renovation market that does not currently exist. This will get the construction industry back to work quickly and provide jobs for years to come.
Another important benefit is that the Plan will pay back the total investment cost through the new tax base created by the 8.445 million new jobs. It will also save the government the cost of unemployment benefits.
The Plan has garnered a lot of attention on the Hill and is now being reviewed by the Transition Team. We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Welcome
Buildings are the major source of demand for energy and materials that produce by-product greenhouse gases (GHG). Slowing the growth rate of GHG emissions and then reversing it over the next ten years is the key to keeping global warming under one degree centigrade (°C) above today's level. It will require immediate action and a concerted global effort.
Architecture 2030 has issued The 2030 Challenge asking the global architecture and building community to adopt the following targets:
* All new buildings, developments and major renovations shall be designed to meet a fossil fuel, GHG-emitting, energy consumption performance standard of 50% of the regional (or country) average for that building type.
* At a minimum, an equal amount of existing building area shall be renovated annually to meet a fossil fuel, GHG-emitting, energy consumption performance standard of 50% of the regional (or country) average for that building type.
* The fossil fuel reduction standard for all new buildings shall be increased to: 60% in 2010 70% in 2015 80% in 2020 90% in 2025 Carbon-neutral in 2030 (using no fossil fuel GHG emitting energy to operate). These targets may be accomplished by implementing innovative sustainable design strategies, generating on-site renewable power and/or purchasing (20% maximum) renewable energy and/or certified renewable energy credits.

Welcome
Welcome to the 2030 forum. We have set up this forum to continue the discussion started at The 2010 Imperative Global Emergency Teach-in, and to provide a place where everyone can ask questions, share ideas, motivate each other, describe how you're implementing The 2030 Challenge or 2010 Imperative (or advocating for the adoption of either initiative), and talk about the obstacles you face in moving forward. Thank you for your input!

Welcome
According to Architecture 2030, there is a ‘silver bullet’ solution to global warming and it’s time the nation faced up to it. To get its message out, the non-profit research organization will be hosting a nationwide webcast, called Face It, focusing on the solution. In addition, during the webcast, they will unveil two competitions about the solution with $20,000 in prize money. See the full Press Release inside.

Welcome
During the Face It webcast, we announced two unusual and exciting competitions. The goal was to create graphic designs and videos that reverberated the 'No Coal' message throughout campuses and society at large.
In addition to the $20,000 in prize money that will be distributed amongst the winners, the winning graphic design entry by Jakie Fabella of Cal Poly Pomona appeared in a full-page ad in Metropolis magazine and the winning video entries will be featured on the Metropolis and Architecture 2030 websites.

Welcome
Wear BLUE for Earth Day 2008 to VOTE for No Coal
Want to stop global warming? Wear BLUE for Earth Day 2008! Join millions of people around the world who will be wearing BLUE to signify their vote for NO COAL. Events will be happening April 19th through April 22nd, so...
Earth Day If you’re attending the Earth Day event on the National Mall in Washington, DC on April 20th, wear BLUE.
If you’re attending another major Earth Day event, wear BLUE.
When you dress in the morning on Earth Day, wear BLUE.
No matter what you’re doing for Earth Day 2008, wear BLUE.
A BLUE shirt, top, sweater or jacket... whatever. Just wear BLUE.
Then, on April 22, make your voice heard. Pick up the phone: Call Congress at 202.224.3121 and ask for an immediate ‘Moratorium on Coal’ - a halt to the construction of any new conventional coal-fired power plants. Through this Call for Climate event, Earth Day hopes to generate over a million phone calls to Congress!
Your BLUE vote will count. Fifty-nine conventional coal plants were canceled in 2007. That’s over a third of the 151 planned. That happened before millions of people joined together to say No Coal.
BYOBlue for Earth Day 2008. Be the vote that tips the balance.
. . . . .
Help us get the message out:
* send this message to everyone you know
* download the banner ads and display them prominently on your website, Facebook, MySpace etc.
* attend an Earth Day event wearing BLUE and
* on April 22nd, wear BLUE all day - to work, lunch and dinner - and make the call to Congress at 202.224.3121, asking for an immediate ‘Moratorium on Coal’.
