How To Stop Coal

The above map displays the locations of new and proposed coal-fired power plants in red.
Click on a plant or choose your state from the drop-down menu to see the plants in your area.

There are 151 new conventional coal-fired power plants in various stages of development in the US today. If built, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from these plants will overwhelm and negate all current efforts to reverse global warming. With global reserves of oil predicted to run out in 40 years and natural gas in 60 years, the one fossil fuel positioned to push the planet beyond the tipping point of 450 ppm CO2, is coal. We urge you to contact your local and federal representatives to demand a moratorium on coal. For contact information, select your state from the drop-down menu below.
